Oct 30. 2023: The three peaks(tres picos)

Welp I finally made it to Tuxtla. Let me tell you I already love this place. It been a great first couple of days even tho I understand like nothing that is being said. I'm excited to learn Spanish.

Highlights of the week were on Tuesday we got to hear from elder Anderson at the mtc
I had some really great teachers in the mtc shout out to them. When we got to the mexico city airport on Friday we almost exited the airport before we figured out we were in the wrong place. After we got to the mission home we met our trainers and ate.  some little Caesars. My area is three hours away from the mission home so we slept in the apartment of the APs. Saturday we took a bus to our area. It's called Tres Picos and it's pretty small. There isn't a chapel but there is a casa de oracion a house of pray. And we have a family group there. It seems like a really good place that has a ton of opportunities for work. Sunday was also really good. We had a really good lesson with on of our amigos and it was really cool because even tho I could not really understand what was going on I still was able to feel the spirit. One other cool thing is that tres picos is by a lot of mountains so the view is similar to utah but better. The people in tres picos live very simple and it's amazing to see. We don't have a shower or a working toilet. We get all our water from a well for most things. Everything that have eaten so far has been normal and very good.

Funny story for the week. While we were going through security in the mexico city airport the guy by the metal detector gave me a fist bump. But it turns out that it wasn't actually a fist bump I just thought it was. He was actually just waving me forward through detector. I stood there for a couple of seconds while he laughed and then pointed to where I was supposed to go. He told me that it was the first time that anyone's done that and we laughed about it for a second and now I will probably think about it for the rest of my life.

Spiritual thought for the week is from elder Anderson.

“You put the Lord Jesus Christ first. You think of Him, you speak of Him, and you will find deep into your bones will come a knowledge, faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. It will be a solid foundation for you for all of your life and for all eternity,” - Elder Andersen

This applies to everyone. As we put christ first in all that we do We will be blessed with greater faith. I challenge you to do this in all of your lives. Find ways to put Christ at the for front of your life.

Love yall
